What it is

This is an investigational peptide made by Eli Lilly, and its most interesting use is not metabolic at all. The company is running a large program to see whether a drug in this family can help people avoid relapse to alcohol, opioids, and smoking, and whether it helps with depression. These are hypotheses under active test, not findings yet.

How it works

Drugs in this family dampen appetite, and animal work plus early signals suggest they may also quiet craving and reward pathways in the brain. The idea is that the same lever that quiets hunger might quiet addictive pulls. The exact receptor target has not been publicly confirmed.
