What it is
Melanotan II is a synthetic peptide designed to stimulate the receptors that darken skin. It was originally researched as a way to chemically prevent skin cancer. It is not approved anywhere for anything, yet it became a gray-market tanning drug with a loud social-media following.
How it works
It stimulates melanocortin receptors broadly. One receptor drives the tan (eumelanin production). Others suppress appetite, push sexual arousal, and act on oil glands. The effects are real, dose-dependent, and not subtle — and the same appetite/arousal pathway later birthed PT-141.
